Answers to common questions about product selection, device integration and development.
Frequently asked questions.
What should I share when choosing a device?
Tell us which credentials people will use, where the device will be installed, which interfaces are required and what should happen in the software workflow. A mounting drawing, host-equipment description or simple process diagram helps us identify the questions that must be confirmed before recommending a configuration.
Does every configuration include the same features?
No. Credential modules, interfaces, mounting parts, network options and software can vary within the same product family. Confirm the exact model and selected options in writing before designing an enclosure, cable set or integration around it.
How can I get a manual or datasheet?
Use the download center when a reviewed public file is available. If a file is not listed, send the exact overseas model and document type to our team so we can check the applicable revision and whether it is cleared for release.
How should we evaluate a product for our project?
Start with the credential, mounting, interfaces and software flow that matter to the final installation. Confirm the sample configuration in writing, test it in the intended environment and record any differences before planning a larger rollout.
What lighting conditions should we consider?
Strong backlight, direct sunlight, reflections and close-range lighting can reduce capture quality. Evaluate the terminal in its intended position and avoid pointing the camera directly toward a bright window or concentrated light source.
What kind of enrollment photograph should we use?
Use a clear, front-facing JPG without beauty filters, heavy makeup, sunglasses, a mask or other facial obstruction. File size and image dimensions can vary by software and model, so confirm the current import requirements before preparing a large enrollment set.
What should we confirm before connecting a face terminal to the network?
Confirm whether the selected configuration uses wired networking, Wi-Fi or another connection method, then collect the network and platform settings required by that system. A local network connection does not by itself prove that the device is connected to the management service, so verify both states separately.
Does registering a person automatically grant access?
Not necessarily. Identity enrollment and access permission are separate steps in many systems. Confirm that the person, credential, target device, schedule and permission group have been linked and that the authorization was delivered successfully.
Is a network connection the same as a connection to the management platform?
No. A device can have local network access without maintaining its platform or messaging connection. Check the physical network, IP settings and service connection separately, using the indicators or logs available for the selected system.
What should I check if serial output is missing or unreadable?
Match the baud rate, data format and electrical interface on both sides, then inspect the cable and any serial-to-USB adapter. Also confirm whether the reader is sending raw content or a framed protocol message before treating additional bytes as corrupted data.
Why can output differ from the original QR content?
A reader in transparent output mode may send the original content, while a protocol or development mode can add a header, length, device information and check data. Select the mode that matches the host application and use the protocol reference for that model and firmware.
Can repeated scans of the same code behave differently?
Yes. Single-read and interval modes can treat repeated presentation of the same code differently, while a different code may still be accepted immediately. Confirm which modes and repeat intervals are available for the selected reader before defining the user flow.
Can the same configuration tool be used for every reader?
Do not assume so. Reader firmware and access-control firmware can use different tools, configuration codes or platform commands. Share the overseas model, firmware and intended operating mode so the matching method can be checked before changing settings.
What should we check when a reader does not react to a code?
First confirm that the reader has started normally and that the code is complete, correctly generated and presented within the usable reading area. For codes shown on a phone, raise the screen brightness and remove glare; if known-good codes still produce no response, record the indicator and buzzer behavior for support.
Why can USB keyboard output appear as the wrong characters?
Keyboard-emulation output depends on the host operating system and its active keyboard layout. Test with a simple code while the host is using the expected language and input mode, then confirm any prefix, suffix or character-mapping settings supported by the reader.
What is the difference between transparent and protocol-based network output?
Transparent output normally forwards the decoded content, while a protocol-based connection can wrap it with device or transaction data and may require a defined response from the server. The available transports and response rules vary by product and firmware, so use the matching integration reference.
What should we do if a reader keeps flashing when no code is present?
Disconnect power using the approved procedure, restart the reader and observe whether normal standby behavior returns. If the unusual light pattern continues, stop relying on the unit and send the model, firmware and a short video of the behavior to technical support.
What should we check when a controller receives no reader data?
Compare the RS485 wiring, polarity, grounding and communication settings with the instructions for both devices. Then confirm the reader output mode and controller input configuration; a correct cable cannot compensate for mismatched communication settings.
Why might a successful credential check not open the door?
Identity verification, access permission and the physical control output are separate parts of the workflow. Have a qualified installer check the operating mode, permission result, relay timing, controller output and lock wiring against the installation instructions.
What should we check if a device appears online but commands fail?
Confirm the overseas model and device identifier registered in the platform, including letter case and similar-looking characters. Then check connection stability, the expected firmware and whether the command is intended for that operating mode.
Why might an unregistered card or code still activate the door?
The controller may be in a commissioning or test mode that bypasses the normal permission decision. Stop the test, verify the configured operating mode against the manual and repeat the check with a known authorized and unauthorized credential before putting the door into service.
What should we collect when a device repeatedly goes online and offline?
Check the cable or wireless signal, local network stability, power and service connection rather than looking only at the platform status. Record the times of each disconnect and include the device model, firmware and relevant network logs when asking for support.
What should we check when a remote command has no effect?
Confirm that the device is connected to the required service, registered under the correct identifier and running the expected firmware and operating mode. If the command reaches the device but the physical action fails, continue with the controller, relay and wiring checks for that installation.
What is DejaOS used for?
DejaOS provides a JavaScript development environment for supported devices. Developers can build device interfaces and application workflows using the modules available for the selected hardware, SDK and firmware.
Does every Feocey product support DejaOS?
No. Check support for the exact overseas model and configuration before choosing a development device. Use the current official documentation and confirm the matching SDK, firmware and hardware modules.
Can an example for one device run on another?
Some JavaScript application logic and resources can be reused, but native modules, SDK versions, screen dimensions and hardware capabilities must match the target. Treat an example as a starting point and validate every hardware-dependent part on the actual device.
What should I check when a device module cannot load?
Check that the project targets the correct device and SDK, then reinstall the matching module version and synchronize it to the device. A file being present in the project does not prove that its native library is compatible with the target hardware.
Are the application interface and boot screen customized in the same way?
No. Application UI work belongs to the device application, while a boot image can involve firmware preparation and a different delivery process. Share the exact model, whether the devices are new or already deployed, and the desired asset before planning the change.
What do we need before starting DejaOS development?
Start with a confirmed supported development device, the required power and USB connection, and the current DejaOS development tools described in the official documentation. Confirm the exact target model before installing modules or adapting an example.
What does a typical DejaOS development workflow look like?
Select the target device, prepare the project and matching modules, synchronize the application, then run and debug it on the hardware. Validate the user interface, peripherals and failure behavior on the target device before preparing a production release.
Why can a device restart while an application is being debugged?
A sample may include watchdog behavior, or the application or a hardware module may be failing during execution. Check whether a watchdog is enabled, reproduce the restart with a minimal project and collect the device log before deciding that the hardware is faulty.
What changes when moving from development to production?
Development and production configurations can differ in startup behavior, debugging access and how the application is delivered. Confirm the release procedure for the exact firmware and test a production-configured unit before preparing the rest of the devices.
What should I include in a technical support request?
Include the overseas product model, firmware or software version, connection method and a short sequence that reproduces the issue. Screenshots, indicator behavior and relevant logs help; do not send passwords, access credentials or personal biometric data.
What should we check if a device repeatedly restarts?
Compare the power supply voltage, current capacity and wiring with the specification for the selected configuration. If the problem continues, record whether it happens at startup or during a particular action and send the model, firmware and observations to technical support.
Can we select a lock from its front design alone?
No. Confirm door material, thickness, handedness, existing holes, backset and lock-body requirements before selecting a configuration. Photographs of both sides and the door edge, together with measurements, are more useful than a front view alone.
What information is useful for a smart lock project?
Tell us who issues access, which credentials are planned, how permissions are updated, the expected offline behavior and how the door is prepared. Credential, gateway and management capabilities depend on the selected configuration and must be confirmed together.
